To pack for a whole year might feel like a tough task. But it is actually not as hard as it sounds. There are though some things you should think about before you start. Most important is what climate you will come too. So don’t bring all your winter clothes if you are going to south Africa.
Almost everybody brings too much with them to the country. Remember that the fashion is probably different and you will also buy a lot of new things that you need to bring back. Find out how much you can bring with you on the flight. From Europe to USA it is usually around 2 bags of 30 kg each. But it depends very much on what flight company you travel with. Europe- Australia, Asia it is usually less then that. If you want to bring more then allowed there is often a very expensive fine to pay. So our advice is to pack easy because we promise you it will be a lot harder when you travel back to make everything under the weight limit.
• Prestent to your hostfamily.
• Photos from your country. (Family, friends, vacations, your house and community)
• Camera
• Brochures about your city and country.
• A cookbook with your recipes.
• Candy from your country.

sorry don’t know any japan programs… could anyone tell me HOW to save up the money to go on exchange in under 4 months! i have no way of doing this. Would i be allowed to host a fundraiser in my community to fund my expenses? D: plus if i live in Australia.
has anyone been to U.S.A or England. what did you think of the place you went to?
I live in the USA and a lot of exchange students come to our community.I live in Crystal Lake, Illinois and we have many host familes. Our school is very welcoming of new exchange students and on average have about four at a time. Our exchange students are very happy being here and we live within an hour of Chicago so visting the city isnt too hard. I hope you visit us!

Hi I am canadian and i was wondering how can i contact someone to go to south korea or like what exchange program to use??
hello Maddie, i also have the very same problem. but it would be best to check different exchange programs like TWO-WORLDS-UNITED,AFS,and this exchangestudentworld..check out their archives and choose which is better yet SAFER and cheaper.
I am going to Japan in August on a one year exchange to Yokohama. I am with the Yamate Gakuin exchange program. It’s awesome! You can get a scholarship of $1500 to help you get there. They do it from Canada, USA, Australia and I think New Zealand. Honestly, this is the best program I came across. You will be learning Japanese for half the day and the other half with Japanese students. They also make it mandatory for you to join a club so you won’t be bored and you will make lots of friends!! I recommend this program, as it is very VERY organized and they have people helping you along the way. ^^ You don’t even have to know ANY Japanese to be qualified. (I’ve been studying for 4 years now, so it helps, -I’m 16~) Search up YAMATE GAKUIN EXCHANGE program on Google and look at their websites. It’s amazing! Bye~
flynn, just google it and look at all the different programs,
try yfu, or rotary.
Ciara,
Thank you! I know somebody that really REALLY wants to go to Japan and she couldn’t find any good programs ^^ I Thank you A LOT~!
Try Rotary Clubs if you want to keep your expenses low. An agency I would recommend is International Experience. It serves many countries. Google it, and you will find it. We loved our student from this agency.

I want too be a exchange student in grease. How do i do that. I know one person in grease it is a long story how we meet but im 14 years old and im going to be a freshman and i want to exchange when im a sophmore or junior help please i really want too be a exchange student.
Hi, I’m Kassidy I am from the USA. I was thinking about doing an exchange program just to learn about a different culture. I would like to go to the UK, but I don’t know where to start. May I please have some advice??
This is really good advice about packing, which i read it before my exchange year. I’m an exchange student from Australia to Austria and I’m about to leave in under two weeks after being here for a year. I packed WAY too much and now I’m starting the packing process again for my trip back home. You’re going to buy heaps of things (I promise) whether it’s clothes or presents or random stuff which you find really funny during your exchange year. When you return home you’re clothes are still going to be there, which means that it is not necessary to bring your whole wardrobe! Pack light and don’t be too picky between this white shirt and that white shirt, their the bloody same!
