Are there all boys, all girls and mixed schools in Sweden?

Question asked by Michael Slater on Apr 28th

Description:

I am in Trinidad and Tobago and comparing the Swedish Education System with Trinidad and Tobago. In T&T, we have all boys, all girls and mixed schools. The all boys and all girls school are mainly prestigious schools. Students 11 years to 14 years old who obtained the highest examination passing marks in a compulsory examination are allowed to attend these schools.

Hi Michael,
There are only mixed schools in Sweden. A student in Sweden must attend compulsory school (age 7 -16) and upper secondary school, which is like high school (age 16-19).

If you get good grades during your last year in complusory school you can choose between many different high schools. It’s all based on grades so money is not involved.

The classes in upper secondary school are usually between 25 - 30 people. It’s all mixed but if you choose a computer/technical school there are more boys than girls and the opposite if you choose a dance school.

I hope I was able to help you a little bit. Don’t hesitate to write another question if there are more things you wonder about Sweden.

I'm sorry..
