Should I study abroad in high school or take a gap year?

Description:

I go to an art school, so I'd miss a lot I wouldn't be able to make up going away for a year. However, I'd really like to go to high school while I'm in the foreign exchange program and for a full year because I want the full learning experience. Plus, I want to look for college, any ideas? I'm really confused, and if it helps, I'd like to go to either Japan or South Korea.
