Longing back to your exchange country
When you get back to your home country you’ll probably have a great time. Your parents want to do everything for you, fix the best food and take you everywhere.
Your friends will maybe have a “welcome home”-party for you.
But after a month you will be back to normal, with usual TV-nights or maybe a night with the computer. It is often then, when you are not doing anything, that you long back to your year as an exchange student.
Sometimes it can be very hard and heavy. My advice is to talk to other friends that have been away for a year, they have probably experienced the same things. Become a member of the forum here at Exchange Student World and talk your experiences.

What to read next:
You will be happy to go home and see your friends and family again, but at the same time you will feel so sad leaving your new friends.
Culture shock is very common amongst exchange students. You need to be aware that some things are going to be really different from what you are used to in your home country. You will need to accept this.
Don’t be scared of calling people if they want to hang out. It is just a way to make them feel interested as well and almost every time they will help you get into the friendship-gangs.
